At the upcoming NAHB International Builders' Show in Orlando, Verizon Wireless, located in Booth #W4783, will offer solutions and pricing strategies to help builders stay competitive in the home construction industry by enhancing the profitability of their businesses, maximizing the efficiency of their workers and delivering superior service to their customers.
Verizon Wireless is currently in the process of expanding LTE (Long Term Evolution), its 4G network. Launched in 38 cities and 60 airports across the U.S., the network is expected to cover approximately 110 million people by the end of this year and 200 million next year and be fully deployed by 2013.
The performance and capabilities of the Verizon Wireless 4G network will allow customers to do things never before possible in a wireless environment. Improved network speeds will allow users to download files at five to 12 megabits per second and upload at two to five Mbps. The network will also help revolutionize the way people can communicate and deliver applications to improve overall business operations.
Wireless mobile worksites and workforce management solutions are gaining popularity with small and midsized construction companies. These solutions are designed to help field crews work smarter and faster and respond with greater accuracy.
Estimates show that by 2013 close to half of all contractors will explore adoption of mobile worksites and workforce management solutions, with 75% of their employees using these types of applications daily. As of 2009, an estimated 85% of the construction industry workforce was mobile.
Construction Solutions
Verizon Wireless solutions can help builders to complete jobs on schedule and under budget. With Verizon, builders can:
- Improve productivity at job sites and communications with the home office by providing immediate access to computers, printers and fax machines via a secure wireless infrastructure
- Protect company-owned assets by monitoring remote workers and company vehicles; and receive notifications of unsafe driver performance and vehicle maintenance requirements
- Improve dispatch operations by gaining valuable insight into where company vehicles are located and estimate arrive times
- Reduce data-entry errors and improve operational expenses by collecting accurate data from the field with automated reports and paperless forms
- Secure the job site with real-time surveillance and video monitoring
Cost Savings
Cost-cutting initiatives are also critical in construction, and Verizon Wireless offers significant savings through its group purchasing partnerships with National Purchasing Partners (NPP) and Unified Purchasing Group (UPG).
NPP and UPG provide eligible members with access to a large portfolio of vendor contracts, including one with Verizon Wireless. These agreements offer major cost savings on products and services necessary to support daily business operations. Through these volume-purchasing agreements, smaller builders can enjoy the same savings as some of the largest construction companies.
Becoming a member of NPP or UPG is simple — and free. Just visit the following websites, complete the online registration and execute a Verizon Wireless Member Agreement:
