Learn How Building Green Is Smart for Business
Three experts on various aspects of green building will conduct an hour-long audio seminar on the opportunities, challenges and benefits of green building from 2:00-3:00 p.m. EDT one Wednesday, June 11.
"Green as Good Business” seminar participants will discuss such topics as a business case for green building in a slow market; the marketing benefits of green building; the challenges of green building; and green building legal trends and related issues.
“Green building has captured the attention of the residential home construction industry and the buying public,” said David Jaffe, NAHB staff vice president for construction liability and legal research. “The promise of significant energy savings, a healthy indoor environment and being ecologically friendly have proven to be strong motivating factors for designing, building and purchasing a green home.”
But Jaffe, a seminar participant, also cautions builders to be proactively aware of “potential liability issues in order to avoid disputes and litigation that could result in a lengthy and debilitating sidetrack of the green building wave.”
In addition to Jaffe, seminar participants include Matthew Belcher, president of Belcher Homes, a residential and light commercial green building, development and consulting firm based in St. Louis; and Donald Ferrier, CGB, president of Ferrier Custom Homes in Fort Worth, Texas and a nationally recognized green and sustainable home builder.

Registration is $145 per site, with no limit to the number of people dialing into the seminar. The first 20 site registrations will receive a complimentary copy of the 2008 Cost of Doing Business Study, a $99 value.
