NAHB Remodelers Celebrates 25th Anniversary This Month
NAHB last week announced the 25th anniversary of the NAHB Remodelers. In response to growing demand from the association’s diversifying membership, the council was created in 1982 to increase the knowledge and professionalism of remodelers and promote their accomplishments.
"For 25 years, NAHB Remodelers has trained, supported and promoted the best professional remodelers in the country," said NAHB Remodelers Chairman Mike Nagel, CGR, CAPS, a remodeler from Chicago. "This council and its members have been instrumental in advancing the industry and we are proud to celebrate this significant anniversary and look forward to continued growth and success."
Remodeling has grown into a booming $228 billion business and NAHB Remodelers has grown accordingly, with membership now topping 7,500. NAHB Remodelers has expanded its offerings to include everything from training courses and certifications, to remodeling guides for consumers and advice for remodelers on expanding and maintaining their businesses.
Some of the council's offerings have included:
- Designation programs certifying advanced remodeling skills, including the Certified Graduate Remodeler, which emphasizes business management skills as the key to a professional remodeling operation, and the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, which offers advanced training in adapting homes for seniors and improved accessibility
- Training opportunities and courses on topics such as design/build, green remodeling, business management skills and sales and marketing techniques
- The Remodeling Show, which showcases the latest in cutting-edge remodeling products and offers training and networking opportunities
- The quarterly Remodeling Market Index, which closely tracks activity and trends in the remodeling industry
- An online Directory of Professional Remodelers to help consumers find qualified professionals in their area
- Advocating on behalf of remodelers in the legislative and regulatory arenas
