NAHB Honors David Reznick for Committment to Affordable Housing

During NAHB's recent spring board of directors meeting in Washington, D.C., David Reznick, co-founder and chairman of the board of Reznick Group, P.C., was named the 2011 recipient of the Daniel M. Grady Memorial Award in recognition of his more than 30 years of working on behalf of affordable housing.

The Dan Grady Award is presented annually to an NAHB member who best embodies the spirit and dedication of its namesake to quality affordable housing, and whose advocacy work with the association has made a difference to the housing industry.

"For more than 30 years, David Reznick has demonstrated his commitment to providing quality affordable housing through working with developers, federal agencies and Congress to promote ideas and practices that boost and preserve the nation's affordable housing stock," said NAHB Chairman Bob Nielsen.

As founder of the Bethesda, Md.-based Reznick Group, P.C., Reznick has seen his firm grow from one office to a top 20 CPA firm with offices throughout the country. Over the span of his career, Reznick has provided direct services to a range of real estate clients, including developers, syndicators and lending institutions.

Considered a trusted advisor on real estate policy issue, he has testified before the House of Representatives on how to restructure the Section 8 portfolio of FHA-insured mortgages. He has also been a featured speaker at multiple national real estate industry seminars and affordable housing conferences.

The award is named in honor of Daniel M. Grady, an NAHB builder who contributed nearly 50 years to the housing industry before his death in 1991.

During his long career, Grady founded two companies that developed and managed affordable housing.

Additionally, Grady served as a consultant to other developers, non-profit organizations and government agencies on how best to use programs administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development to create quality housing for lower-income families. He also served on numerous NAHB committees, and lobbied the association to advocate on behalf of affordable housing, particularly rental housing.

Grady was inducted into NAHB's Housing Hall of Fame in 1992.
