Four NAHB members have been named as small entity representatives (SERs) by the small business advisory review (SBAR) panel assisting with the renovation, repair and painting for commercial and public buildings rulemaking.
SBAR panels are convened for proposed rules that have an economic cost of more than $100 million and affect a significant number of small businesses.
The panels look at the number of firms that will be affected, recordkeeping and compliance costs and regulatory alternatives and receive input and advice from the SERs based on their experiences within the industry.
The association members who will be SERs on the panel reviewing the new lead rule are Carl Harris from the Commercial Builders Council, and three NAHB Remodelers — Tim Swafford, Jud Motsenbocker and Mike Nagel.
Participating in a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency pre-panel outreach on Feb. 15 were the small entity representatives, the Office of Management and Budget and the Small Business Administration.
The EPA has asked for comments and reactions from the small business representatives on this pre-panel meeting. The comments are due on March 1.
