Stuard Scholarship Fund Announces 13 Winners

The National Housing Endowment, the philanthropic arm of NAHB, recently announced the 13 winners of the Dale & Bea Stuard National Housing Endowment Educational Fund Scholarship.

This year, $25,000 in scholarships were awarded to:

  • Thomas Blair, Arizona State University
  • Michael Duby, Saddleback College
  • John Gonzalez, Fullerton College
  • Jacob Hahr, University of California-San Diego
  • Kristen King, Cal Poly-Pomona
  • Jan Lim, University of California-Berkeley
  • Magdalena Lojewska, Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo
  • Anastasia Mylonas, Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo
  • Sally Nicholson, Saddleback College
  • Judy Perez, University of San Diego
  • Benjamin Prunean, Fullerton College
  • David Prunean, Fullerton College
  • Leon Wood, University of Southern California


Established in 2000, the fund was created by endowment trustees Dale and Bea Stuard to provide financial assistance to qualified students preparing for housing industry careers, with special emphasis given to qualified California students. Stuard was the 1988 NAHB president and a past chairman of the endowment.

“Bea and I were very impressed with the students awarded scholarships this year and are proud to take part in the National Housing Endowment’s efforts to increase the number of professionals entering residential construction,” said Stuard.

The selection committee included educators and industry professionals. They were Richard Douglass, committee chairman, Centex Homes; Tim McSunas, Taylor Woodrow Homes; Kathy Johnson, Vital Link and Building Industry Association of Southern California Home Builders Council; Lynne Porter, North Orange County ROP; Robin Robinson, Fuscoe Engineering; Richard Cardoza, Ritner Architectural Group, Inc.; Thom Steele, Hardwood Creations; Julie Stevens, Purcell Murray Builder Sales, Inc.; and Lawrence Jones, Building Industry Association of Southern California – Orange County.
