Meta is now carrying out the final of the three major downsizings that were previously announced, but there may still be additional smaller downsizings in the future.

Facebook’s parent company has already conducted two previous downsizings, affecting 11,000 and 10,000 employees, respectively. In March 2023, Meta announced that they would make further downsizings, impacting a total of 10,000 employees. Of these, approximately 4,000 were laid off in March, and the second part is happening now, with around 6,000 employees leaving the company. This will primarily affect those working in sales and marketing.

Meta layoffs

In total, Meta has reduced its workforce by approximately 21,000 employees. This means that the company now has the same workforce as it did in mid-2021. Despite this being the final of the three major downsizings, smaller downsizings may continue throughout the year.
