2022 has proved that there is no limit at all when it comes to the beauty and price of hypercars. The difference between these cars and the most expensive luxury cars is that luxury cars still have similarities with their less expensive counterparts. Whereas a hypercar sets themselves apart from all the other cars and are beginning to bridge the gap between a car and a work of art.

When someone says the phrase; high-end hypercars, companies and brands such as Ferrari, Bugatti, Koenigsegg and Pagani and others should come to mind. This is because these companies have managed to secure their spots at the top of the game when it comes to the production of the fastest, rarest and most expensive hypercars.

1. Rolls-Royce Boat tail – $28 Million

This Rolls-Royce Boat Tail was debuted at Italy’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este late in the year 2021 to show off its 6.75-litre twin-turbo v12 engine, producing 536 horsepower. Rolls-Royce only produced three units of this model, one going to the famous rapper Jay-Z, another to a wealthy Chinese business man and another to who Rolls-Royce says is “a patron whose family business has grown from his father’s origins in the pearling industry”.

The design of this car is inspired by everything nautical and is part of what Rolls-Royce calls their Coachbuilds. This design features elements of a J-Class and the original 1932 boat tails. Another clear nautical feature of this car is the wrap-around windscreen design, however, there are so many more.

2. Bugatti La Voiture Noire – $18 Million

Bugatti created this car in 2019 and instead of coming out with a flashy introduction Bugatti decided to make a more minimalistic and iconic title: La Voiture Noire which is translated to: The black car.

The Bugatti has a hand-moulded carbon shell and the iconic quad-turbo w16 8.10L engine which produces 1500 horsepower and accelerates to 100 km/h from standstill in just 2.4 seconds.

Bugatti has been famous in creating the world’s most powerful production cars and they did not disappoint with this one seeing as the La Voiture Noire has a top speed of 260mph (420km/h).

3. Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta – $17 Million

Zonda was the very first car to ever be produced by the Pagani Automobili auto house. Years ago the Pagani company was going to favour the production of the Huayra and cease production of the Zonda however now they’ve come out with many different special editions of the Zonda.

The name “Zonda HP Barchetta” because that is what they believed the car resembled, a ‘little boat’. The whole body of the car is made to be ultralight by using carbon fibre throughout the whole frame. This helps the vehicle achieve speeds of 0-100km/h in just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 355km/h.

The Zonda HP Barchetta is also one of the cars that you won’t be able to buy because there were only three of these specific versions of the Zonda made.

4. Rolls-Royce Sweptail – $13 Million

This car once held the title of the most expensive car for a short period of time and wasn’t planned to be produced by Rolls-Royce. It was instead a request in 2013 by a super-yacht and aircraft specialist.

The design of the Sweptail does an excellent job in capturing modern luxury while still having a hint of 1920s and ‘30s glamour. They have managed to do this by still using the classis Rolls-Royce silhouette but then combining it with the futuristic, innovative technology. The one thing that is still unknown about this car is who owns it. It truly is one of a kind.

5. Bugatti Centodieci – $9 Million

Only ten of these cars will be sold, making it even more exclusive. Each one of these 10 cars have already found a buyer, among them is the football star Christiano Ronaldo, despite its expensive price.

These Bugatti Centodiecis were made in celebration of the Bugatti brand’s 110th birthday and by doing so Bugatti has sought to give everything possible to this car to make it memorable. With its 1578-hp quad-turbo W-16 engine Bugatti hasn’t disappointed in creating the fastest accelerating Bugatti on the road currently.

The Centodieci tries to pay homage to the EB110 which was a supercar introduced in the early ‘90s, which didn’t quite perform as they hoped. However, this car makes up for that by combining luxury as well as performance flawlessly. Bugatti has claimed that the Centodieci has a time of 2.4 seconds when accelerating from 0 to 100km/h. Although the top speed of this car, 379km/h, is distinctively lower than that of the Chiron it makes up for it in its modern aesthetic.

6. Mercedes-Maybach Exelero – $8 Million

Despite the peculiar looks of the Mercedes-Maybach Exelero, it’s a wild high-performance four-seater sports car containing a huge 5.9L v12 twin-turbo engine under the hood. This car produces 690 hp and is able to reach top speeds of 351km/h and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds.

This car was actually commissioned by a German subsidiary of Goodyear, Fulda, in 1938 to test their brand new Carat Exelero tire range. The car was later featured in one of Jay-Z’s music videos and was then purchased by a rapper named Birdman.

7. Pagani Huayra Codalunga – $7.4 Million

Even though there are five of these Pagani Huayra Codalungas made you won’t be able to get one even if you could afford its high price tag. Each one of these five cars have been tailored to suit their new owners.

Pagani made sure to have this model be created as a tribute to the race cars of the 1960s, which were defined by their classic Italian coachbuilders shape. One of the most notable features of the exterior is the long tail which hides its twin-turbo v12 engine, producing 840 horsepower. Although no performance specs were mentioned it is rumored to have a time of 0-100km/h in under 3 seconds and a top speed of 354 km/h given the other performance levels of other Huayra models.

8. Bugatti Divo – $6 Million

The Bugatti divo was a car that closely followed the Chiron because it was such a success. Although the Divo looks very exotic it still has many similar features that were taken from the Bugatti Chiron.

There were only 40 units of this car produced and before they even went public with this car they were all sold to Chiron owners who were given a special invitation. Despite the insane price tag put on this car it sold out in its first day of being available.

Although Bugatti is very well known for being able to produce incredible speeds in a straight line this car, according to Bugatti themselves, is supposed to be the most agile and dynamic car that they’ve ever produced. They haven’t sacrificed any of the power though with its 8L W16, quad-turbo, engine producing 1500hp. Using all this power the car is able to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 2.4 seconds and has a top speed of 380km/h.

9. Pagani Huayra Imola – $5.4 Million

This model from Pagani is an extremely important one for the company because its whole design was dedicated to speed. Pagani were so dedicated to making this the fastest model they even developed a special type of paint which in the end would save the car about 11 pounds of weight, and in the end the car would weigh a total of 2,747 pounds.

Now this weight combined with the cars magnificent 6.0-litre v12 engine, producing 827 horsepower, you end up with a unique, fearsome and high-rolling car as any car can possibly be on the road.

10. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita – $4.8 Million

When Koenigsegg was designing this car, they intended to limit it to three cars, thus the name “Trevita” which means “three whites” in Swedish. However, when they figured out how much it would cost to produce these three cars, they decided to make it even more exclusive and limit the production to only two units.

Koenigsegg did not spare a single penny when it comes to this car’s futuristic advancements. Some of the features that makes this car so expensive is the diamond weave carbon fiber finish, its one-of-a-kind double carbon rear wing, its inconel exhaust system and finally its ceramic brakes with ABS and tire monitoring system.

This Koenigsegg contains a 4.8-liter twin-turbocharged v8 engine spitting out 1018 horsepower and 1080 newton-meters of torque which helps it reach top speeds of 254mph (408.7km/h).

11. Lamborghini Veneno Roadster – $4.5 Million

The word “Veneno” is taken from the Spanish language and means “venom” or “poison” which is appropriate for the deadly presence which this car possesses on the roads.

The design of the Veneno was based on the Lamborghini Aventador and this was made to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini. The car was first revealed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. There were 14 of these cars made in the world in both a convertible or coupe option.

Lamborghini installed a powerful 6.5 litre v12 engine, producing 740 horsepower, which is able to launch the car from 0-96km/h in 2.9 seconds.

12. Bugatti Chiron Super Sport – $3.9 Million

There were only 30 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ produced making it hard to get your hands on one of these even if you could afford it. Bugatti is one of the few brands that test the limits every time they come out with a new car and this model was no different. They were first able to change the world with their Bugatti Veyron which was able to reach speeds up to 253 mph and now the Chiron Super Sport+ is able to advance pass this and reach speeds up to 300 miles per hour (490km/h).

All of this is possible with the help of its magnificent 8L w16 engine producing 1577 horsepower. Even though it’s insane top speed the Bugatti doesn’t sacrifice any of its accelerating as it accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 2.4 seconds.

13. Pagani Huayra BC Roadster – $3.5 Million

Although the Pagani Huayra BC Roadster has a huge price tag on it, it wasn’t always that high. This model has actually tripled in value since it hit the market in 2011. Pagani produced 40 of their Huayra BC Roadster units which were inspired by the Pagani Zonda. Some of the features that were taken from the Zonda are the sideways opening doors. Pagani has however increased the power, changed the chassis and breaks and has included a brand new 7-speed transverse gearbox since the Zonda R.

The Pagani is powered by a beastly 6 litre twin-turbo v12 engine which is capable of helping the car reach speeds of 261mph(km/h). Pagani actually used a material called carbon-titanium HP62 which is lighter than the regular carbon fibre, this also helps with the cars incredible speeds.

That rounds up the top 13 most expensive production cars

There is a majestic type of presence and power that is demanded by these expensive cars on the roads, if you were able to own one of these beasts, which one would you choose?
