At the beginning of the year, China could be titled as the world’s second-largest car exporter. However, they have now taken the lead and become the largest of all.

The reason is both the tremendous increase in demand for electric cars and ongoing sales in Russia. Compared to the first three months of last year, China shipped 58 percent more cars during the same period this year. Between January and March, the total number reached 1.07 million vehicles (of which 380,000 were electric cars).

The total figure for Japan during the same period was 950,000 vehicles. The largest markets for China were Belgium, Australia, and Thailand.
