  Government Affairs Awards Deadline Extended until February 9, 2009
Government Affairs Awards Are Just Around the Corner!!! 

The deadline for the 2009 NAHB Government Affairs Recognition Awards applications has been extended until Monday FEBRUARY 9, 2009.

These awards honor home builders, associations and public officials who have created more housing opportunities and strengthened the building industry.

The program extends beyond state & local awards and now includes federal, BUILD-PAC and grassroots advocacy recognition as well.

Winners will be recognized at a breakfast on Monday, March 23rd at the Marriott Hotel in conjunction with the 2009 Legislative Conference.

Award Criteria 
 
LOCAL Official of the Year
Awarded to mayors, city officials, and building officials who show a commitment to the housing industry over time, work against opposition in an effort to support housing issues, or implement innovative programs to assist or educate builders.

STATE Official of the Year
Awarded to governors, legislators, and building officials who show commitment to the housing industry over time, work against opposition in an effort to support housing issues, or implement innovative programs to assist or educate builders.

STATE & LOCAL Government Affairs Achievement
Awarded for legislative or regulatory efforts or educational or public relations programs that employ innovative responses to common industry issues; overcome an “impossible” problem; use coalitions, member mobilizations and technology; enact or initiate legislation or programs in 2008.

FEDERAL Legislator of the Year
Awarded to a federal representative who demonstrates continuous commitment to the housing industry over time and works against opposition in an effort to support housing issues.
