Green Building Takes Center Stage at Lt. Governors Annual Conference
NAHB Green Building Subcommittee Chairman Ray Tonjes had an important message for the nation’s lieutenant governors last month in Williamsburg, Va.

Tonjes, a custom builder in Austin, Texas, spoke at the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) conference on how climate change has quickly garnered national attention at all levels of government. He went onto to explain how NAHB is working diligently to address the concerns and provide elected officials with substantive information.

Noting that NAHB members are pioneers of green building, Tonjes spoke on NAHB's creation of our green building subcommittee almost a decade ago, as well as the release of NAHB's Model Green Home Building Guidelines in 2005, in addition to our recent partnership with the International Code Council to standardize building guidelines through the ANSI process.

The National Lieutenant Governors Association is the professional association for the elected officials who are first in line of succession to the governors in the 50 states and five territorial jurisdictions.
