2006 State and Local Government Affairs Conference: Addressing Tough Issues in the Big Easy
Join HBA staff and builders at NAHB's only event dedicated solely to state and local topics. This year's SLGA Conference is being held Nov. 9-11 at the Sheraton New Orleans in New Orleans.

Come and take in two days of hot housing issues. Twenty sessions will be held over the course of these two days.  Here's just a sampling of some of this year's sessions.

Inclusionary Zoning: The Latest Trends
An increasing number of communities today are adopting and imposing inclusionary zoning requirements in the belief that this approach alone will close the affordable housing gap instead of taking a more comprehensive approach toward understanding and resolving affordability problems.  Attend this session to find out what you need to know to tackle this issue of growing concern.

Impact Fees: Stepping up your Strategies
Is your municipality becoming increasingly aggressive in how they impose and increase impact fees?  Learn legal and policy strategies and important methodology considerations to address efforts that position developers to shoulder the lion's share of the infrastructure financing burden.  Presenters will discuss recent state court litigation and dissect particular studies from municipalities around the country.

Environmental Trends
Come hear the predictions from our crystal ball-reading panelists about the future of environmental regulation.  With constant talk of global warming, sea-level rise, and deforestation across the airwaves, it's time to look at what the environmental future may hold for America's homebuilders.  Do the stars point to increased water regulation, fugitive dust requirements, or drinking water standards?  Attend and find out!
