Issues Fund Deadline Approaching
The deadline to submit applications for NAHB’s State & Local Issues Fund for review by the State & Local Government Affairs Committee at Fall Board is Thursday, August 10.
The SLIF is designed to provide support to HBAs in order to successfully deal with a legislative, regulatory, or ballot issue that has national significance or is a common industry problem whose resolution could be precedent setting.
As always, we encourage you to apply to the Issues Fund. The Committee is especially interested in reviewing applications that mirror issues from the most recent Critical Issues Survey. Some of the critical issues identified include: storm water management and permitting, zoning, the development approval process, high liability insurance costs, the difficulty and high cost of acquiring building materials (cement, lumber, etc.), code regulations, and impact fees.
This is the last time the Committee will review applications before the November elections, so if there is a ballot initiative or referendum that you plan on fighting for or against, this is the time to apply.
For more information, including an application and Fund guidelines, e-mail Gerry Keegan in NAHB’s State & Local Government Affairs department, or call him at 800-368-5242 x8326.
