New Faces in NAHB's State and Local Departments
Two recent hires have bolstered NAHB's state and local political operations area.

Sam Leyvas, formerly with NAHB's Affiliate Services team, now heads up the group's State & Local Government Affairs area. Sam will oversee the department's legislative tracking, the State & Local Government Affairs Conference, and serve as staff liaison for the State & Local Government Affairs Committee. In his previous role as director of affiliate services, Sam conducted government relations assessments for state and local associations and worked with affiliates in strengthening their overall advocacy efforts.

Prior to joining NAHB, Sam served as CEO and chief lobbyist for an association in the Arizona higher education community. He is a graduate of Georgetown University’s Public Policy Institute and also holds a B.S.Ed. in Political Science from Northern Arizona University.

Dan Quinonez is the newest member of NAHB's political field team, and coordinates political and grassroots programs at the local, state and national levels.

Before signing on with the association, Dan spent two years working as a political consultant in New Jersey and New York.  He successfully managed and consulted for numerous local, legislative and congressional races, most notably managing the 2000 election campaign of Mike Ferguson in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District. His public affairs experience includes serving as communications director for a county in New Jersey. Dan is a graduate of St. John’s University in New York and is also a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.

Both Sam and Dan report to Alastair Macaulay, the assistant vice president for State & Local Political Operations. Reach Sam at 800-368-5242 x8326 and Dan at x8585.
