Tom Sheeran Named December 2004 Remodelor™ of the Month
Congratulations to Tom Sheeran, CGR, CR, ASID, of Sheeran Construction in Lexington, Ky., who was named the Remodelors Council December 2004 Remodelor of the Month.
Sheeran was selected through a stringent judging process by selected Remodelors Council leadership. Sheeran, the incoming HBA president, played an instrumental role in the establishment of the HBA’s local Remodelors Council and continues being an active leader and spokesperson for the Council.
According to Todd Johnson, executive vice president of the HBA of Lexington, “Tom is very respected in the industry and within our community as a professional remodeler. He is very civic minded and active in many community service activities.”
Sheeran represents the HBA on its local Realtor Community Housing Foundation Board, which provides funds for less fortunate people in the community to perform housing repairs, accessibility for the disabled and materials and labor in cases of emergencies in the community. In addition to his role on the Foundation Board, Sheeran sits on the HBA Executive Committee, created a Community Service Committee, and leads the HBA’s Public Affairs Campaign to teach the public what the association stands for and the positive impact the association and its members has had on the community.
The Remodelor of the Month program groups local councils from different states into designated months. Sheeran, a member of the Home Builders Association of Lexington, was selected from applications from 13 local Remodelors Councils in six states. Each winner is also automatically included in the nominations for the Remodelor of the Year award.
“The purpose of the Remodelor of the Month program is to celebrate all of the local active remodelers across the country,” said Remodelors Council Chairman Douglas Sutton, Sr. of Sutton Siding & Remodeling in Springfield, Ill. “We have more than 6,800 Remodelors Council members, it is a great testament to those who stand out in the crowd when they are named the Remodelor of the Month.”
Who Will be the Next Remodelor of the Month?
The Remodelor of the Month award program is underway. Don't miss your opportunity to be named the Remodelor of the Month. The program groups local councils from different states into designated months. There will be two “wild card” months that will allow the Council’s members-at-large to participate in the program. A winner will be chosen each month and that winner will then be automatically included in the nominations for the Remodelor of the Year award. This is a great opportunity for local councils and members to get involved and submit their “best of the best” members to compete with other councils. The national Remodelors Council will send out press releases and highlight each winner in ReNews. Check out the Remodelor of the Month program schedule and mark your calendars!

Apply for the 2005 Bryan Patchan Scholarship
The Remodelors Council is currently searching for the 2005 Bryan Patchan Scholarship winner. Eligible candidates are the 2005 vice chairs of a local Remodelors Council who want to learn about leadership on a national level.
This year’s recipient, Steve Scheipeter, CGR of SW Scheipeter Construction in St. Louis, MO, joined the Remodelors Council leadership during the Spring Board meeting in Washington, D.C. During his visit to D.C., Steve met with all the national Remodelors Council leaders, met his congressman, Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) and attended the Remodelors Night Out event to network with peers.
“I was very excited to be the recipient of the scholarship,” said Scheipeter. “I applied for the scholarship because I take over as chairperson of our Remodelors Council this fall. I feel that being the chair comes with a great deal of responsibility and that participating in the Spring Board Meetings will help me to do a better job with my term.”
All 2005 vice chairmen or vice presidents of a local Remodelors Council are encouraged to apply for the Bryan Patchan Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship will be announced in early March 2005. The purpose of the scholarship is to help defray the costs of attending the Spring Board meeting of a local leader who may not otherwise be able to attend. The winner of the scholarship will be expected to attend the Remodelors Council meetings. The award recipient will also participate in the leadership orientation activities hosted by the Remodelors Council national leadership and staff.
