Regulatory: Multifamily Members Voice Opposition to FCC Ban
On Wednesday, April 30, 2008, Multifamily members, Granger MacDonald of MacDonald & Associates, and Barry Kahn of Hettig Construction Corp., along with High Production Council Members David Kaiserman and Ken Gear, met with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) staff to discuss the FCC’s proposal to ban bulk billing and exclusive marketing agreements pertaining to cable service in multiple dwelling units.
NAHB staff, David Crowe and A.J. Holliday, were also present. The builders expressed their opposition to the proposed bans, supported by an explanation of how the two types of agreements work.
The meeting may have reduced the likelihood of an intrusive and unnecessary rule regulating cable marketing agreements.
