CEDIA Member Highlight: Engineered Environments

The young couple who owned this expansive home was concerned that it would be cumbersome and time-consuming to manage. They wanted to both monitor and control all of the home’s electronics from strategically located touchpanels. It had to be so intuitive that children, elderly parents and guests could easily use the system without instruction. Engineered Environments created an integrated control system that uses four 12” AMX video touchpanels to control nine TVs, 22 audio zones, nine cameras, four forced air A/C zones, 15 radiant heat zones and a Lutron lighting control system.

To control TVs and associated sources, Engineered Environments fully integrated Crestron MT1000 touchscreen remotes with the AMX system. In addition, the crew engineered a custom relay interface that provides full control of the 12 multi-speed fans through the Lutron keypads. To create the architectural effect desired by the client, the architect designed the entry way to the house with no windows or means by which to view visitors to this remote home site. Engineered Environments created an automated electronic window by having two strategically placed day/night cameras appear automatically on a 12” touchscreen located just inside the front door whenever the doorbell rings. The lush dedicated theater includes CinemaTech AR S Interior Room Treatment for perfect acoustics and 12 cozy Valentino Incliner seats. Everything came together and now these clients enjoy their expansive estate without the hassles of a managing large home.
