Register for Symposium Early; Save Big

The 2007 Custom Builder Symposium is soon upon us. Set aside Oct. 26 – 28 for a luxurious stay at the Naples Grande Resort & Club in sunny Naples, Fla. The Symposium is the gathering that you don’t want to miss, and promises not only excellent educational opportunities, informative speakers and a look at exclusive custom homes in progress by leading custom home builders, but also networking opportunities and the much anticipated golf tournament sponsored by Pella Windows.

It Could Be You

Can you make someone’s dream a reality? Paul Magleby can, and last year he was named NAHB’s Custom Home Builder of the Year. This year it could be you.

Magleby, president, Magleby Companies, Inc., of Pleasant Grove, Utah, constructs multimillion-dollar homes of 7,000 to 30,000 square feet in the Utah Valley. His projects have included an estate for the creators of WordPerfect software and a hillside retreat at Sundance, among many others. His company has grown from three employees to more than 70 staff members in the past 30 years, and his employees enjoy a retirement plan managed in-house as well as a generous market-sharing program.

Now NAHB seeks to honor a new designee for the 2007 NAHB Custom Home Builder of the Year.

The Award recognizes the leadership and outstanding business practices of one custom home builder, as well as his or her craftsmanship for building one-of-a-kind custom homes.

Sponsored by Dryvit Systems Inc., the award gives members an opportunity to say thank you to one of our own for helping to elevate the profession of fine home building. The award recognizes the best of the best in a niche business of home building. Custom builders are known as crafters of exceptional homes for discerning clients.

To be eligible, the nominee must be a custom home builder, demonstrate proficient leadership qualities in business, active in state and local industry and involved in the local community. You can fill out the online nomination form here. To reserve tickets to the award ceremony, call Marcia Childs at 800-368-5242 x8388 or send an e-mail to mchilds@nahb.com. The nomination deadline is Aug. 17, so don’t hesitate to nominate the home builder you think is the Custom Home Builder of the Year today.

On the Green

The Naples Grande Resort & Club maintains one of the premier golf courses in the country. The course was ranked in the top 100 best resort courses in Golfweek’s Best Resort Courses, 2007 and was given four and one half stars out of five by Golf Digest. And this is the course you can enjoy during the Symposium for the annual golf tournament, sponsored this year by Pella Windows.

The tournament will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can participate in various competitive events such as the longest drive, closest to the pin and highest/lowest team score to chance winning gift certificates to the resort’s pro shop.

Lunch will be served on the greens, and a reception will follow the event.

This private, 18-hole, par 72 course was designed by the renowned golf course architect Rees Jones.

Be sure to select the golf tournament option during your registration under “optional activities,” and enjoy this premier course while at the Symposium.
