In this issue: Cooper Square Realty Announces Opening of On-Site Learning CenterCooper Square Realty reinforced its commitment to being the industry leader in residential property management by announcing the grand opening of its exclusive Learning Center. Located in the company’s main office, the Learning Center is the only facility of its kind in the New York area where property managers, building staff, owners and board members can learn about the technical aspects of property management in an interactive, state-of-the-art environment. The 700 square foot room, featuring 17 live workstations, creates an innovative educational arena where participating in a training seminar about building systems/structures as well as financial management becomes an informative and entertaining event. Designed by Cooper Square Realty’s Project Management Division, the Learning Center utilizes audio and visual tools to educate and train on such topics as elevators, heating plant, air conditioning, wood water tank, plumbing, waterproofing, roofing, concierge desk and much more. The Learning Center is a training facility that takes education in the management industry to a new level by providing new and long-term company employees, building staff and board members a more comprehensive understanding of property management from a physical standpoint. The concept behind this ground-breaking facility is to provide realistic hands-on training which compliments the knowledge gained in classrooms and textbooks. “It’s quite difficult to find an employee who has gone to school to become a property manager” notes David Kuperberg, President of Cooper Square Realty and RAM Life Goverenor. “The Learning Center allows us to educate our own employees and building staff to better serve our clients”. Kuperberg, a proponent of education in the property management industry, has recently authored a book called Residential Property Management that is used nationally to teach RAM classes. In the Learning Center, property managers will sharpen their skills at the various workstations. For example, the exterior station includes a masonry section with the mock-up of a window, lintel, sill, balcony with railing and air conditioner sleeve and the details that are involved to replace, repair and waterproof. Additionally, mock-ups of a roof with flashing details and cavity and solid wall construction are part of the exterior station. The plumbing station includes a miniaturized wood water tank, hot water heater, one and two pipe steam systems along with piping for water supply and waste. The Learning Center also provides a station to learn about environmental and compliance issues and how to read a financial statement. If you want to learn more about an elevator, a working elevator provides a basic understanding of the mechanics. Cooper Square strives to insure that every client they represent and every building they manage receives their finest efforts, and the roll out of the Learning Center is the latest in a series of innovations that is testimony to this philosophy. Recognized as New York’s pre-eminent property management firm, Cooper Square Realty manages a portfolio consisting of over 150 buildings with an aggregate asset value of more than $2.5 billion. The company has received numerous awards over the years for its leadership, professionalism and innovation in the real estate industry. The company’s services include property management, real estate sales and leasing, mortgage and insurance brokerage, project management and consulting.
