Builders and designers can learn how to overcome design, engineering and cost challenges when coordinating universal design with the outside environment during the webinar “Reimagining Universal Design 2 — No-Step Entrances, Exteriors and the Surrounding Community” from 2:00-3:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Presented by NAHB’s 50+ Housing Council and sponsored by MASCO Cabinetry, developers also will learn how to apply universal design to community spaces and make neighborhoods sustainable and livable for all residents.
Participants will:
- Discover design strategies to achieve step-free entrances
- Learn techniques to overcome design and site challenges to produce a universal design home — while minimizing cost
- Learn how to develop neighborhoods and communities that serve the diverse needs of customers and residents
The webinar also will provide case studies of winners in the Livable Communities Awards sponsored by AARP and NAHB.
Panelists include Louis Tenenbaum, CAASH, Aging in Place Professionals; Bill Owens, CGR, CAPS, CGP, Owens Construction; and Colleen Starkloff, Starkloff Disability Institute.
The webinar is the second in a three-part series on universal design. The other webinars will be held on July 27 and Aug. 10.
Participants can earn one hour of continuing education credit toward their designations.
