Floor Plans: Bringing the Rustic Adirondacks to Georgia — Timber by Timber

Manufacturer:

Builder:
Atlanta Signature HomesAtlanta

Nestled along a lake outside of Atlanta is an award-winning log home with the rustic flair and style of life in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York.

To make the home built for the McCarthy family a little more regionally confusing — but no less spectacular — it is a custom version of the Rimrock, a Western-style home manufactured by PrecisionCraft Log & Timber Homes. To add the Adirondack touches the McCarthys sought for their home, they worked directly with Medina, Idaho-based Mountain Architects, to modify the original plan into a handcrafted post-and- beam design.

In Keeping With Its Surroundings

The key features of an Adirondack home include the use of mixed materials, a rustic or unfinished appearance, multiple roof pitches and stone foundations.

When completed, the home blended in perfectly with the wooded Georgia lakeside property. It also looked as if it had been there for many years.

Plenty of Room for Friends and Family

The McCarthys based their custom home on the Rimrock design because they wanted a home that was large enough for visits from friends and family and that projected an air of comfort and relaxation.

Their home features an open great room and kitchen area with easy access to the outdoors, and a roomy loft. The kitchen is separated from the other living areas by a curved breakfast bar with a metal top and stone facing.

This mixture of materials and design not only captures the Adirondack theme, it helps incorporate modern, livable elements into the home’s design.

A Game Room and More Sleeping Space in the Basement

Downstairs in the basement is a spacious game room and extra sleeping space for guests. The game room also opens to one of the family’s favorite features — a screened-in porch where they can enjoy lovely Georgia summer nights sans bugs.
