NAHB’s National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC) recently launched its inaugural September/October issue of SMI Digital — a high-quality, interactive and digitized PDF version of the award-winning Sales + Marketing Ideas magazine — that was delivered to subscribers’ desktops, Blackberrys and smart phones.
Like its print counterpart, the first issue of SMI Digital featured articles and information for new-home sales and marketing professionals on topics including sales and marketing trends, market research, advertising, marketing plans, model merchandising and sales management.
“NSMC members are often at the forefront of technology trends in the home building industry,” said Kenneth Simons, 2010 NSMC chair. With more members working remotely, he said, SMI Digital enables them to view this important resource wherever they happen to be working.
“NSMC wanted to keep our magazine timely and easily accessible,” added Joseph McGaw, publisher and editor-in-chief for Sales + Marketing Ideas. “With technology having more and more influence on print media, SMI Digital was the next logical step to meet our readers’ needs.”
Subscribers were e-mailed a link to the September/October digital version so they could read it remotely or from their desktops.
The online format enables SMI Digital readers to turn pages virtually, click through to advertisers’ websites, zoom in and out, e-mail authors directly and view and hear video and audio that are included in the publication.
SMI Digital readers also are able to share articles and information through Twitter, Facebook and other popular social media sites.
A second issue of SMI Digital, due out later this year, will replace the November/December 2010 issue of the bi-monthly Sales + Marketing Ideas magazine.
Available free as a benefit to NSMC members and NAHB’s Master in Residential Marketing (MIRM) designees, the magazine is also available through a paid annual subscription to other NAHB members and to non-members for $59 and $70, respectively.
To maximize readability, subscribers are encouraged to download the latest version of Adobe Flash. In addition, NAHB has created an SMI Digital How-To Guide to help readers navigate the new format.
