Participation in Membership Day on May 25 Already Up 25% From Last Year

More than 400 local associations have already committed to participating in this year’s National Membership Day (NMD) on Tuesday, May 25 — a nearly 25% increase over last year — and it’s not too late for other HBAs to join in.

Local HBAs have focused in May on new member recruitment to ensure a successful future for their associations. The month will culminate in National Membership Day — a celebration of membership recruitment drives across the country.

On May 25, participating HBAs will call a special toll-free NAHB phone line, 800-899-6242, between 12:00 and 5:00 p.m. EDT to report the projected number of new members recruited in May.

“It’s a day we all look forward to,” says Ann Garvey, chair of the NAHB Membership Committee. “Senior officers and other volunteer leaders spend the day at NAHB taking calls from the locals. We love having the chance to answer questions and talk to members from all over. And it’s fun to watch the officers fighting over the phones.”

For each new member joining in May, two Spike credits will be awarded to the recruiter. For Spike members, that one new builder or associate member will enable them to attend the invitation-only Spike Party at the 2011 International Builders’ Show in Orlando.

In addition, recruiters can vie for many of the other prizes listed on the National Membership Day webpage.

To learn more about National Membership Day or the special Spike credits and prizes, call the NAHB membership staff at 800-368-5242 x8347, or e-mail them at membership@nahb.com.
