Evans Scholarship Fund Awards $41,000 to 13 Students

Lee S. Evans | The National Housing Endowment, the philanthropic arm of NAHB, announced the recipients of the 2010-2011 Lee S. Evans/National Housing Endowment Scholarship, which is awarded to exemplary students who major in construction-related fields.
The Lee S. Evans Scholarship Committee awarded $41,000 to 13 worthy students.
The scholarship recipients include:
- Donovan Ballantyne, a graduate student at the Southern California Institute of Architecture
- Brady Bonds, a junior at Missouri State University majoring in construction management
- Andres Boral, a junior at Florida Gulf Coast University studying civil engineering
- Christina Corely, a graduate student at Georgia Tech pursuing a master’s degree in building construction and facility management
- Mathew Huskins, a senior at Appalachian State University majoring in building science
- David Jones, a graduate student in his final year at Georgia Tech
- Scott Kelting, a graduate student at the University of California at Santa Barbara completing his master’s in education leadership
- Peter Kraemer, a junior at North Dakota State University studying construction management
- Jingyu Lee, a student at the Illinois Institute of Technology pursuing a dual degree in architecture and architectural engineering
- Andrew Molgren, a junior at Pittsburg State University studying construction management
- Daniel Rathe, a student at Missouri State University studying construction management
- Samantha Spill, a junior at Western Kentucky University studying construction management
- Nathan Tew, a sophomore at Brigham Young University-Idaho majoring in construction management
Founded in 1993 by Lee and Virginia Evans, the Lee S. Evans Scholarship has awarded more than $540,000 to more than 184 students across the country.
The annual scholarships award graduates and undergraduates pursuing degrees in residential construction management in two- and four-year colleges and universities up to $5,000 each year.
The scholarship determinations were made by the Evans Scholarship Committee. Committee members included Brenda Eid, founder of BJ Eid Associates; Carole Jones, of Robert R. Jones Associates; William Hauke, president of Hauke Building Supply; Mark Lee Levine, director and professor of the Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management at the University of Denver; Roger Reinhardt, executive vice president of the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Denver; and Chuck Shinn, of Shinn Associates.
More Endowment Scholarship Programs
The endowment administers 12 scholarship programs and awards more than $300,000 each year to hundreds of students pursuing careers in residential construction and related fields.
