Home Technology Trends, Planning Discussed at IBS
Education sessions about the Top 10 tends in home technology as well as how to meet consumer expectations when incorporating home technology will be offered at the upcoming 2010 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas through the NAHB and CEDIA Home Technology Alliance (HTA).
In addition to education sessions, the HTA will conduct several workgroups as part of its continuing efforts to educate builders and electronic systems contractors (ESCs) about the benefits of installed home technology.
The education sessions include:
- “Planning for Residential Electronic Systems”
Wednesday, Jan. 20
1:30-3:00 p.m.
South 221
Home buyers' expectations about technology evolve so quickly, builders and other industry professionals may have difficulty keeping up with the changes. In this session, attendees will learn about how electronic systems contractors (ESCs) can help builders meet these expectations. Presenter and ESC Matt Carter, of Encore Technology + Design, will provide an insider's perspective on the ESC’s responsibilities to the builder and buyer when marketing, selling and installing home technology. Carter will also discuss design requirements such as space, framing, electrical and ventilation.
- “Top 10 Technology Trends”
Thursday, Jan. 21
10:00-11:30 a.m.
South 221
This session, also presented by Carter, will highlight the top 10 technology trends and their likely impact on the design and build community. This program will also provide an overview of consumer expectations related to technology and examine why design and build professionals should understand current trends in order to successfully compete in the marketplace. By becoming familiar with these ideas and products, attendees will be better able to converse with customers about their needs and become more capable of incorporating the technology features that consumers demand.
These courses are offered through CEDIA’s industry partner education curriculum, which NAHB has approved for continuing education credit.
