Attend Estimating Seminar, Demonstrations at IBS

Computerized estimating has become the standard in the construction industry over the last 19 years. Of all the estimating programs that are available, the most widely used program in residential construction estimating is a simple spreadsheet.

Jay Christofferson, a licensed general contractor, author and software developer, will conduct a seminar at the 2010 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas next month on estimating that involves Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.

In addition, ongoing demonstrations of an Excel-based estimating tool will be provided at the BuilderBooks Bookstore in the Grand Concourse of the Las Vegas Convention Center at IBS.

Thursday, Jan. 21

  • "Estimating With Microsoft Excel"
    10:00-11:30 am
    North 257

Christofferson will demonstrate how builders and remodelers can use the powerful features of Excel to make their estimating time quicker, more accurate and customized to fit their own needs. He will also teach attendees how to set up customized estimates.

For more information and to add the course to “My Show Planner” on the Builders’ Show Web site,

Tuesday-Friday, Jan. 19-22

  • EstimatorPRO 5.2 Demonstrations
    During Bookstore Hours
    BuilderBooks Bookstore, Grand Concourse

Christofferson has developed the Excel-based program,
EstimatorPRO™, for small to medium-sized builders. He will give demonstrations of the estimating tool at the bookstore to show how the software can produce a detailed, accurate estimate for an average-sized home in less than 20 minutes. This popular estimating software has been updated to take advantage of the software enhancements available in Excel 2007.
