Lubrizol Manifold System Can Reduce Hot Water Consumption

The manifold system that will be featured by The Lubrizol Corporation in Booth C4481 at the upcoming International Builders’ Show can be used by builders to gain up to six points toward certification under the NAHB National Green Building Program.
The innovative FlowGuard MultiPort CPVC Manifold System has been qualified by the NAHB Research Center as a Green Approved Product because of its proven ability to reduce hot water usage.
According to the product’s Green Approved certificate, points can be earned “when the manifold product is used for a parallel piped hot water delivery where the distance from the heater to the manifold is less than 15 feet and the piping volume from the manifold to the fixture is less than eight cups.”
The product portfolio of The Lubrizol Corporation’s FBC Building Solutions puts a strong focus on sustainability, according to company representatives.
The Patent-pending FlowGuard MultiPort CPVC manifold system offers a number of additional benefits — including a highly versatile solution for use with both CPVC and PEX potable water piping materials.
Used as a central maniforld system, the product allows for any number of ports during installation, while easily accommodating future expansion; the home builder, as a result, only has to pay for the ports needed upon construction.
Another cost-saving feature is that the manifold system can be used with or without the duplicative individual valves on each line that are often required at every fixture. The manifold system is joined with solvent cement, eliminating the mechanical leak points that can be found in other central maniforld systems.
The fittings come in standard configurations of one, two, three or four ports for 1-inch CPVC, and two or three ports for 1-1/4-inch, 1-1/2-inch and 2-inch CPVC. Simple CPVC adaptors are available to convert the male ports to brass or stainless steel crimp barbs for PEX pipe or to standard fittings for CPVC pipe.
The qualified product is backed by Lubrizol’s more than 50 years of experience in advanced technology piping products — including FlowGuard Gold, FlowGuard Bendable, FlowGuard Flex, BlazeMaster and Corzan piping systems.
