NAHB-Produced Programs on the DIY Network

The NAHB Production Group produces weekly television shows for consumers on the DIY network. The following is the latest lineup:

"Rock Solid" on DIY

Episode: "Stone Patio and Walkway"

• July 22, 5:00 p.m. EDT
• July 26, 12:30 p.m. EDT

DIY's expert stone masons and hosts Dean Marsico and Derek Stearns tackle three types of flagging stonework in this project. They create a stone patio, walkway and stepping stones for a rustic Plymouth, Mass., cottage. To create a rustic looking patio and walkway, there is no better material than natural flagstone.

"Indoors Out" on DIY

Episode: "Beachside Family Room"

• July 23, 5:30 p.m. EDT

Home owner Chickie Cellis adores the beach, but with so many children and foster children, field trips are few and far between. Since Chickie and her brood can't go to the beach, DIY hosts Dean Marsico and Derek Stearns solve the problem by bringing the beach to Chickie. In an area behind the pool, they build a modular deck and use space-age technology to add tile. Dean and Derek stretch their design skills with a cool shade idea, and that "beachy" feel comes courtesy of special landscaping and an easy-to-assemble tiki lounge. With this new family room, poolside is about to become the new beachside.

Free NAHB Kit Gives Builders Back-to-Basics Tips to Navigate the Slowdown

What was once expected to be a relatively mild housing slump following three years of record new home construction and sales has given way to a significant downturn.

To help members navigate the uncharted waters of this slowdown, NAHB has compiled a comprehensive “Back to Basics” online toolkit — the best of the basics, the tried and true and the truly new. To access the toolkit, click here.

To access the “Back to Basics” toolkit, you must be an NAHB member and have a login to www.nahb.org. To create a login, go to www.nahb.org/login or click on the log-in button on the main menu bar.

For assistance, call the NAHB Member Service Center at 800-368-5242.
