Comments Sought on Proposed WaterSense Certification Process
Officials at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency are seeking comments on the agency’s proposal to inspect and certify new homes in the WaterSense water efficiency program.
The proposed inspection procedures and draft certification system — which outlines the process for certifying new homes for compliance with the Water-Efficient Single-Family New Home Specification — includes the general procedures under which home builders can apply for and receive the WaterSense label.
NAHB’s environmental and green building staff is carefully reviewing the proposal and plans to submit comments before the Feb. 16 deadline. Interested members are encouraged to submit comments on their observations as well.
Comments and suggestions can be e-mailed to watersense-newhomes@erg.com, where they will become part of the public record.
Questions can be addressed to the WaterSense Helpline at 866-WTR-SENS (987-7367) or by e-mail to watersense@epa.gov.
