IBS Program Looks at Equity Partnership Options for Builders
An educational seminar at next week’s International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas will provide builders with information on how to form equity partnerships in today’s difficult financial times.
A panel of builders and intermediaries making presentations at “Equity Partnerships 101 — Options for Small and Medium-Sized Builders” will discuss how to identify and attract local equity investors and explore options in structuring financing packages for land development and single-family and multifamily housing production.
The session will also provide key information on establishing relationships, required returns, project profiles and the risks and rewards of alternative approaches.
The speakers are:
- Earl Armiger — founder of Orchard Development Corp. and the incoming chairman of the NAHB Housing Finance Committee. He is a multifamily builder and has had success forming investor groups for several of his developments.
- Tom Stephani — of Custom Construction Concepts and a longtime NAHB member who specializes in small builders and projects. He is a custom builder and a member of the NAHB Custom Builder Committee and a life director.
- Chuck Shinn — president of the Lee Evans Group and a longtime member who is a developer and management consultant.
- John Hay — a director at KeyBank, which has recently formed a fund that will invest in debt, mezzanine debt, participating debt or, to a limited extent, equity investments in the acquisition, development and sale of land for residential “for-sale” communities and the construction and sale of residential housing projects located in the U.S.
The program will be held in the Las Vegas Convention Center on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 1:15 to 2:45 pm. in Room N258-260.
