Executive Edge 2009 , a day-long program for building industry executives at the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas next month, will feature business and industry speakers and panel discussions about how to survive the economic downturn, change the housing landscape, boost business momentum and more.

Executive Edge will be held from 9:15 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19 at Caesars Palace, Roman Ballrooms 1-2.

Tim Sullivan, of Sullivan Group Real Estate Advisors based in San Diego, will serve at moderator to several panel discussions during the day and enable attendees to “pick the brains” of the speakers.

The Executive Edge speaker sessions include:

  • Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die
    9:15-10:30 a.m.

Dan Heath, columnist for FastCompany and the author of “Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die,” will discuss how to develop messages that communicate and resonate with key industry audiences — employees, customers and the investment community — and take attendees through a fast-paced presentation of ideas that work, and some that fail, and why.

  • CEO Laboratory: Brainstorming the Changing Housing Landscape
    11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Sullivan will lead a panel of industry leaders including builders, suppliers and finance experts on a discussion of the continuing challenges and opportunities the industry faces because of the volatile market and weak economy. In addition, a staff member from NAHB Advocacy will lead a debate on where the new Obama Administration might take the industry.

  • Resiliency Check! Using Non-Traditional Approaches to Stay in Business
    1:30-3:00 p.m.

Sullivan will lead a second panel of industry experts on a discussion of how successful builders are making adjustments to survive the current economic challenges. Topics will include non-traditional sales strategies that are being used by builders to sell homes quickly as well as how some builders are diversifying to hedge their bets.

  • Business Acceleration: 12 Practical Lessons to Boost Business Momentum
    3:30-4:45 p.m.

Dan Coughlin, president of The Coughlin Company, Inc., who works with mid-size and large organizations to improve their business momentum, will discuss strategies to accelerate business and provide practical insights on how to increase the quality of customers care, catapult performance and boost profits.
