Builder Magazine LivingHome Open for Tours During IBS

Builder magazine will be presenting the latest in its series of idea homes at the upcoming International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.
The 2,464-square-foot, two-story contemporary Builder LivingHome will be open for free guided tours at Booth C5288 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center during IBS exhibit hours.
The house offers a glimpse into housing’s near future by combining the efficiencies of factory-built construction, lifestyle-driven design and a comprehensive approach to mainstream green building products and practices.
Combining modular construction and panelization, Builder LivingHome displays a “hybrid” approach to home building that utilizes the best of factory-built and onsite methods, quality control, resource efficiency and craftsmanship. The home will emerge nearly complete from a Southern California factory after a 10-week fabrication process and will be shipped to Las Vegas, where it will be assembled and finished on the show floor in a mere five days prior to IBS.
All of the products and systems showcased in Builder LivingHome have undergone a stringent evaluation process by LivingHomes, the Santa Monica, Calif.-based builder and architect of record, to determine and verify environmental claims and benefits. That vetting process demonstrates that legitimately green products are available and affordable from mainstream manufacturers.
The home’s modern design, conceived by KieranTimberlake Associates of Philadelphia and adapted by LivingHomes, not only suits the efficiencies of off-site (or factory) construction methods, but also delivers an open, flexible floor plan that properly leverages natural daylight and solar gain and can be easily modified to suit lifestyle needs and changes — a more sustainable model than traditional home designs.
