Progress Lighting Showcases New Energy-Efficient Additions

At the upcoming International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, Progress Lighting, located in Booth C7455, will showcase new 2009 additions to its collections of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient indoor and outdoor lighting.
Included will be additions to the company’s Everlume-LED (light emitting diode) residential lighting line and to its award-winning Energy Star-qualified products.
“Our goal is to offer items that address today’s full range of home decor tastes, allowing individuals to create their own personal space,” said Paige Malouche, director of marketing services for Progress Lighting. “We are proud to provide an array of energy-saving and environmentally friendly alternatives through our expanded collections.”
Among the new products Progress Lighting is bringing to the exhibit floor:
- Recessed LED for new construction or remodel applications — New options in 6” and 4” LED new/retro trims are now available. With white splay, 2700K or 3500K CCT options, target markets include residential and light commercial applications for both new construction and retrofitting.
A key enhancement to the LED downlighting trims is the diffusion of diode sources. An acrylic lens diffuses the LEDs to effectively create a single visible lighting source. The regressed reflector and minimal optical aperture result in significantly reduced glare compared to traditional incandescent sources.
The P8071 6” LED downlights are designed to be direct replacements of incandescent 65W BR30s, but they operate at only 12W of input power. The P8026 is the 4” version of the P8071 and includes many of the same features. The downlight’s light output and distribution are superior to R20 incandescents and rival PAR20 halogens.
In addition to being a popular choice for residential and light commercial applications, Everlume LED recessed products may have the most significant impact on a home's energy load from a lighting standpoint. Using two to five times less power than similar incandescent or fluorescent sources, illumination lasts more than 50,000 hours under normal use.
LEDs offer warm white illumination while operating under cooler temperatures to increase safety over similar halogen sources and putting less of a burden on cooling bills. These lamps do not burn out like traditional lighting, but gradually dim over several decades. And unlike fluorescent bulbs, recessed LED fixtures contain no mercury, which has been linked to some health concerns and requires proper disposal.
- Westin CFL — The new Westin CFL family recently received the 2008 Lighting for Tomorrow award in the indoor fixture CFL family category for its innovative use of state-of-the-art and energy-efficient technology for decorative — yet functional — fixtures.
Using the latest dedicated GU-24 lamp technology and featuring arching rectangular arms with strap accents and etched glass, the new CFL family is available in Brushed Nickel and Antique Bronze finishes and includes close-to-ceiling, one-, two-, three- and four-light bath and vanity selections, as well as one-, three- and five-light hall and foyer fixtures, and chandelier and pendant options.
The 15w fixtures are Energy Star-qualified — the mark of quality for energy-efficient, green-friendly lighting, and they have a lifeline of 10,000 hours.
- Montreux LED or CFL –- A European country manor style with cottage-casual undertones highlights this outdoor lantern series — available in post, hanging and wall options — in both CFL (GU-24 lamp) and LED (3500K correlated color temperature) versions.
With Antique Bronze finish and clear-seeded glass, the environmentally responsible and energy-efficient lanterns are perfect for outdoor garden settings, walkways and pathways.
