FlowGuard Glow Solvent Cement Makes Joint Inspections Easier
In Booth S-8133 at the International Builders’ Show, the Lubrizol Corporation will be featuring fluorescent, one-step solvent cement that glows under UV light, making joint inspections easier, and a CPVC maniforld system that offers maximum versatility.
Lubrizol — the maker of FlowGuard Gold CPVC pipe and fittings compounds — has partnered with the IPS Corporation to introduce FlowGuard Glow, a new solvent cement product designed with a unique identifying system to help inspect solvent welded joints. This fluorescent, one-step solvent cement provides added confidence in the reliability of CPVC joints.
Applied in the same manner as FlowGuard Gold one-step solvent cement, FlowGuard Glow CPVC solvent cement is yellow in color when applied but glows fluorescent blue under ultraviolet light, allowing installers to inspect solvent cement joints easily and quickly with a UV-A light kit.
Like FlowGuard Gold solvent cement, FlowGuard Glow is easy to install in a one-step application, sets fast for quick installation and gives out low VOC emissions. With a medium-bodied viscosity, the cement is formulated for CPVC piping systems with interference fits of up to 2” copper tube size. The product meets both ASTM D 2846 and F 493 standards and is listed with NSF and UPC for use in both cold and hot potable water systems, up to 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
Spectroline Corporation manufactures the ultra-high intensity UV-A light kit, which produces up to 10 times the UV-A output of conventional high-intensity discharge lamps. The battery-operated UV lamp is lightweight and works even in direct sunlight. It comes equipped with a 12-volt, 7-amp/hour rechargeable battery that will operate the lamp for two hours; a battery charger is included.
FlowGuard Glow CPVC one-step solvent cement is available at wholesalers and plumbing supply stores across the country.

Multiport CPVC Manifold System
The new FlowGuard MultiPort CPVC manifold system offers a versatile solution for use with both CPVC and PEX potable water piping materials. This patent-pending manifold will be available in 1”, 1-1/4”, 1-1/2” and 2” sizes for residential and commercial applications and can be installed vertically or horizontally.
Used as a central manifold system, FlowGuard MultiPort fittings allow for any number of ports during installation, while easily accommodating future expansion. The manifold system is joined with solvent cement, eliminating the mechanical leak points present in other central manifold systems.
The fittings come in standard configurations of one, two, three or four ports for 1” CPVC, and two or three ports for 1-1/4”, 1-1/2” and 2” CPVC. Simple CPVC adaptors are available to convert the male ports to brass or stainless steel crimp barbs for PEX pipe, or to standard fittings for CPVC pipe.
