New Maytag Washers, Dryers Use Commercial Technology

The Whirlpool Corporation announced last week that heavy duty springs and belts and beefed-up motors and frames are among the commercial-grade components that have been incorporated into Maytag’s new Performance Series washers and dryers.

Christian Cerda, general manager for Maytag, noted that Maytag has been making washers and dryers for laundromats and high-volume commercial settings for 50 years.

The new laundry appliances are available in four bold colors — Crimson, Evergreen, Oxide and White.

Most models in the Maytag Performance Series also feature steam. The steam dryer conveniently connects to the existing laundry-room waterline, so there is no reservoir to fill; the on-demand steam cycles with the push of a button.

Inside the dryer, a small nozzle distributes a fine mist of water throughout the heated area as clothes tumble. The heated air combines with the mist to form steam, rejuvenating clothing by removing odors and relaxing wrinkles. The dryer is also NSF-certified to sanitize, removing 99.9% of tested harmful bacteria. This feature is perfect for sanitizing things that people prefer not to wash — like pillows and teddy bears.

The Maytag Performance Series is also Energy Star-qualified, with each load using 70% less water and 70% less energy than conventional top-load washers.

A wash basket capacity of 4.4 cubic feet enables more laundry to be washed in every load, reducing the number of loads that are needed each week. Intuitive and dependable features monitor the incoming water temperature and levels, helping to conserve energy.

The GentleBreeze Drying System incorporates diagonal airflow to dry clothes in the same amount of time it takes to wash them, and IntelliDry sensor technology minimizes the risk of over-drying and shrinking, both energy-saving features.

The Inside Advantage from Whirlpool provides building professionals with powerful brands, innovative products, targeted services and consumer insights geared to helping them create homes of distinction.
