Certified Green Professionals to Be Honored at Green Conference

The first graduating class of Certified Green Professional designees will be honored at a ceremony on Saturday, May 10 in New Orleans as part of the National Green Building Conference.

The CGP designation teaches builders, remodelers and other industry professionals techniques for incorporating green building principles into homes using cost-effective and affordable options.

The required courses for the designation — “Green Building for Building Professionals” and “Business Management for Building Professionals” — provide a background in green building methods and the tools to reach consumers and incorporate green building into an existing business.

The courses will be offered as pre- and post-show classes at the National Green Building Conference, allowing attendees to earn the designation on site.

More than 300 people have qualified to earn the CGP since the designation was launched at the 2008 International Builders’ Show in February.

Pre-registration for the National Green Building Conference has been extended until 5:00 p.m. EST Friday, April 25.

This year’s 10th anniversary conference features:

  • NAHB’s new National Green Building Standard
  • More than 55 education sessions in tracks including Going Green, Building Sciences, Local Change, Remodeling and Design
  • More than 75 exhibits featuring the latest and most advanced green building products on the market
  • Keynote speakers from Dell, Whirlpool, IKEA and more
  • Six prize giveaways, including a $10,000 vacation package
