Olympia Builders Help Home Owners Recover From Floods

Olympia Master Builders continues to help its members to recover from the storms and flooding that pounded the area late last year.

In the aftermath of the storm, the association’s leadership determined that while the majority of its members were doing fairly well, the bigger issue was that the public needed information on hiring a licensed and bonded contractor to rebuild after the devastation.

Association staff and members subsequently attended many town meetings in the Boisfort Valley, Adna and Rochester areas to answer home owners’ questions on their specific rebuilding needs.

On Jan. 3, Olympia Master Builders hosted a Disaster Rebuilding Workshop at its office. Thirty one contractors attended the day-long event and received information on the rebuilding process in a disaster area. Speakers included representatives from NAHB, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Small Business Administration, Thurston County Building Department and West Coast Bank Commercial.

Association employees will be teaming up with local Remodelers’ Council members to staff a booth at the Feb 15-17 Lewis County Home Show, where they will be available to assist home owners who are in the rebuilding process and offer tips for selecting contractors.

For more information, call Debbi Boyd at the Olympia Master Builders at 360-951-9223, or send an e-mail.
