Free Public and Media Relations Resources for Members, HBAs

"Back to Basics" is one of the many free media and pubic relations resources available to NAHB members and HBAs.

With the housing industry facing many complicated issues, NAHB Public Affairs offers a wide variety of free resources to help associations and members stay informed on the latest housing issues and better manage their media and public relations campaigns.

A comprehensive list featuring all the resources available from NAHB Public Affairs is available to associations and members on the NAHB Web site (www.nahb.org) in the PR Tools section. (Please note that all links are accessible to associations and NAHB members only.)

Highlights of some of the key resources include:

The many resources in these sections are organized in categories including Awards, Special Programs, Ready-to-Use Materials and Reference Information — making what you need to promote your association, company or housing easy to locate and use.

NAHB E-Newsletters

NAHB produces 37 e-newsletters and periodicals to help you stay up-to-date on the latest NAHB and industry information. To subscribe, go the publications section of the NAHB Web site. (Please note, some e-newsletters are available to council members only.) These newsletters include:

  • Monday Morning Briefing, which covers association issues in a short and easy-to-read summary of major happenings every week.

  • Eye on the Economy is NAHB Chief Economist Dave Seiders’ bi-monthly e-newsletter on the state of the economy and the housing market.

  • Housing Market Snapshots are posted online monthly and provide a quick, convenient summary of housing statistics released each month — including housing starts, building permits, new home sales, existing home sales and the NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index.

Speeches and Talking Points

Each month Public Affairs produces a monthly speech outline on key issues confronting the industry that is posted online in the NVPs and State Reps Resources section. This outline can be very helpful in preparing briefing reports and making presentations on national issues confronting the industry.

NAHB News Releases

Finally, Public Affairs distributes more than 250 news releases to the media each year. To help executive officers and members track NAHB's day-to-day contact with the national media, Weekly News Release Summary is e-mailed directly to executive officers and their HBA Public Affairs staff.

Associations and NAHB members can request to receive it by e-mailing Penny Fleming at NAHB.

For more information, e-mail Gwyn Donohue at NAHB, or call her at 800-368-5242 x8447.
