HBAs Can Order Free Copies of NAHB Guidelines in Bulk

Whether to promote their own local green building programs or to pave the way for the creation of a program in the future, home builders associations can now order in bulk copies of the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines.

Created to help associations launch voluntary green home building certification programs, the guidelines are now being reprinted in support of developing and launching NAHB’s National Green Building Program, an initiative that was approved by the NAHB Board of Directors at its recent spring meeting in Washington, D.C.

The national program will allow the association to maintain a leadership position in green building and advocate effectively for cost-effective, market-driven green building in communities around the country, whether there is a local green building program in place or not.

As part of the budget allocation for the new program, the NAHB board authorized reprinting the guidelines book, which includes residential green building educational information and a checklist for certifying homes.

The guideline books are packed in boxes of 22 and can be mailed directly from the printer to associations for delivery in early July — provided that mailing information is sent to NAHB by June 26.

Guidelines will be available after that date to both associations and NAHB members. Smaller orders will be processed beginning in July.

To order copies, e-mail Courtney Elliott with the following information:

  • HBA Name
  • Contact Name
  • Number of Books Requested (22 books/box)
  • Mailing Address

For more information, e-mail Calli Schmidt at NAHB, or call her at 800-368-5242 x8132.
