William and Carole Hauke Named Founding Advocates

Willam and Carole Hauke

William and Carole Hauke were recently named the newest founding advocates of the National Housing Endowment for committing a donation of six figures to the leadership and growth of the endowment, the philanthropic arm of NAHB. Their donation will go toward the endowment’s Women’s Council “Strategies for Success” scholarship fund.

Hauke, the president of Hauke Building Supply in Colchester, Vt., is a life director at NAHB and on the board of the National Commercial Builders Council. The Haukes have been BUILD-PAC Capital Club members for almost five years, and Carole Hauke is a long-time member of the Women’s Council.

Carole Hauke said she and her husband chose to support the “Strategies for Success” scholarship fund because “it is important for me and Bill to give back to the industry in meaningful ways.”

“Women throughout the ages have been so important to the world, and I just think that it is important to recognize women in any industry. Women can make such a difference and contribution to society,” Carole said, adding that the couple was delighted to be able to support an industry and a cause they are “so passionate about.”

The scholarship fund was founded in 2001 to provide financial support to students pursuing careers in housing or a housing-related industry. The scholarships are for individual students or for established educational programs. To date, more than $6,000 has been distributed to students and universities across the country.

“The National Housing Endowment Board of Trustees is very thankful to William and Carole Hauke for their generous contribution,” said Gary Garczynski, endowment chairman and 2002 NAHB president. “We will honor this gift by working diligently to open doors to careers in residential construction management for female students across this country. The support and caring of people like the Haukes are an inspiration and we hope their generosity will inspire others to join in our efforts.”

About Endowment Scholarship Programs

The endowment administers 12 scholarship programs and awards more than $300,000 each year to students pursuing careers in residential construction and related fields.
