Stone Enhances Selling Points of Outdoor Living Areas

In today’s slower housing market, Owens-Corning is providing builders with products designed to boost sales by responding to growing consumer interest in energy-efficiency, outdoor living spaces and indoor comfort.

“Some total — comfortable, quieter, more energy-efficient and aesthetically pleasing homes are more marketable homes — and homes that truly help our customers differentiate themselves and outperform in a slowing market,” said Roy Dean, president of Owens Corning’s Insulating Systems Business.

“That’s our focus, and our passion,” he said. “It’s good for our customers, it’s good for the industry, and it’s good for the planet.”

According to Chuck Stein, president of the manufacturer’s Cultured Stone® business, outdoor kitchens, upscale landscaping and courtyards are a hot trend among prospective home buyers, and Owens Corning is leading the way in this area with siding, shingles and manufactured stone veneer that are innovative and aesthetically pleasing.

“Homes that look better sell faster, and we’re constantly bringing new colors and textures to our customers to make sure our products are on the cutting edge of home trends,” Stein said.

He cited the recently introduced series of Cultured Stone Flat Wall Caps, which are great for stone walls and benches and enhance the enjoyment of backyard guests.

Combined with Owens Corning’s new Builder Series by Cultured Stone, which is priced significantly less than the company’s other products, the caps enable builders to create a more elaborate back yard with the money they've saved on the front of the house.

Headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, Owens Corning is a member of the National Council of the Housing Industry — The Supplier 100 of NAHB.
