Energy Award Finalists Head for Builders’ Show
Ten finalists have been selected for the 2007 EnergyValue Housing Awards (EVHA), which honor home builders who voluntarily incorporate energy efficiency into the design, construction and marketing of new homes, the NAHB Research Center announced on Nov. 22.
The winners will be named on Feb. 7 during the International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Orlando, Fla., with gold, silver and honorable mention awards in the affordable, custom, factory-built, production and multifamily categories. One entrant will receive the “Builder of the Year” award.
Judging was completed in late October by a six-member panel representing expertise in the fields of engineering, residential energy, construction design and marketing. The finalists were selected based on their homes’ energy value, design, construction methods and processes; marketing and customer relations efforts; and their ability to demonstrate an understanding of a whole-house, systems-design approach.
A “People’s Choice” award will also be presented during at the IBS, and members of the public can vote for their favorite home design from among the finalists by clicking here. Ballots are available until Feb. 6.
The awards finalists are:
- Aspen Homes of Colorado, Inc.; Loveland, Colo.
- Bob Ward Companies; Edgewood, Md.
- Ferrier Builders, Inc.; Fort Worth, Texas

The finalists focused on well-integrated systems design, as well as the use of high-efficiency equipment and innovative construction techniques.
