Blanco, Nagin to Address New Orleans Rebuilding Summit

A Sept. 29-30 Housing Solutions Summit for home builders, home buyers and investors sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans will include educational sessions from national and local experts on the regional rebuilding process and include presentations from Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.

The exhibit hall at the Ernest Morial Convention Center, where the summit is being held, will feature building products and services for professionals and for consumers.

Entergy New Orleans is a co-sponsor of the event, along with The American Institute of Architects (AIA), the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and The Department of Energy (DOE).

Among the seminar topics:

  • Tax credit information for both consumers and developers, affordable housing ventures and financial opportunities relevant to the rebuilding effort

  • Details on building code changes, the new permit approval process, historic preservation regulations and other planning issues

  • Mold, lead paint and termite abatement; energy efficiency; and environmental sensitivities

  • Modular housing and panel systems

The event is free and open to the public. Reservations at the Sheraton New Orleans must be received by Sept. 27. For additional information, visit the Housing Solutions Summit Web page at www.hssno.com.
