Home studio musicians, here is a new guitar that streamlines music directly into a computer through a USB connection. For gadget gurus on the go, a new solar panel backpack lets you charge small electronic devices wherever you roam. And a new take on the traditional pet crate will have you saying goodbye to those bulky crates that don’t fit in with your home decor. When Fido is roaming free in your house, a new cord covering is designed to deter him from chewing on electrical cords.

"Dream Builders" on HGTV

A Maryland architect mixes residential and commercial design to create large spaces with signature style. See a New York home inspired by the American barn but designed for 21st-century living. Finally, see an Italianate Villa in Nashville, Tenn. that was built by one of the richest women in 19th century America.

"Rock Solid" on DIY

Episode: "Front Step Revamp"

• June 30, 1:00 a.m. ET/PT
• July 1, Noon ET/PT
• July 2, 7:00 p.m. ET/PT

The stone guys, Dean and Derek, are back in the picturesque town of Cohasset, Mass. to revamp the front step of a 1950s Cape home. To restore the front entrance, they remove the old slate platform (which is cracking, shifting and weather-worn). In its place, they build up the new platform and set bluestone with cobble risers. Dean and Derek explain the proper way to demo the existing step, how to design a field pattern and how to set bluestone for treads and field. The two also take us to the quarry for a lesson on how to pick bluestone and cobbles, based on color, size and function.

"Assembly Required" on DIY

Episode: "Architects Go Prefab"

• June 28, 10:30 p.m. ET/PT
• June 29, 1:30 a.m. ET/PT
• July 2, 2:00 p.m. ET/PT
• July 4, 5:30 p.m. ET/PT

In this episode, New York City architects depart from tradition and use modular building to design a modern vacation retreat in the Catskills. Visit the modular factory that accommodates the unique design and go on site to see how it all comes together.
