Membership Day Brings in a Record 9,550 New NAHB Members

National Membership Day brought in a record 9,550 new members to the federation, including affiliate and council members. Membership Day was May 23.

Five hundred state and local builders associations participated and pledged members, as did the more than 800 viewers of the three-hour Membership Day Webcast — also a new record. The Webcast was broadcast live from the National Housing Center in Washington, D.C.

The Webcast was hosted by Larry Stege and Duane Bickett, the chair and co-chair of the NAHB Membership Committee, and featured live interviews with NAHB Senior Officers and others about the relevance and benefits of NAHB and local association membership, as well as updates on the “Driven to Be the Best” membership pledge drive.

NAHB President David Pressly; Brian Catalde, NAHB first vice president; and Joe Robson, NAHB vice president/secretary, as well as representatives from Whirlpool Corporation, NAHB’s exclusive membership sponsor, participated in the Webcast.

Final competition winners will be announced in the coming weeks, but the preliminary results are in. Visit www.nahb.org/membershipday for complete competition details and to view clips from this year’s Webcast.

Joe Robson, NAHB vice president/secretary, left, expressed his excitement at participating in his first National Membership Day in Washington, D.C.

Larry Stege, chair of the membership committee, and Jerry Howard, NAHB CEO, discussed the politics of housing during the Membership Day Webcast.

Kathy Craven-Snodgrass, representing associate members, discussed the benefits of membership with Webcast co-host Duane Bickett.

NAHB staff volunteers answered the hundreds of incoming calls from local builders associations reporting their new member pledges.

Tips To Maximize Your First Year of Membership

  • Get connected. Access Members-Only content on the NAHB Web site, www.nahb.org, on topics from business management, effective networking, housing issues, and much more. Need help logging in? Email login@nahb.com.

  • Learn more. The NAHB University of Housing provides extensive opportunities, ranging from one-day conferences to industry designation programs. Find programs in your area at www.nahb.org/education.

  • Save money on many services you probably already use. Check out www.nahb.org/ma for information on the many valuable discounts available to our members from national brands such as GM, Dell, Paychex, Hertz and more.

  • Show up. Check the list of upcoming meetings and events for opportunities to network with your 225,000 fellow members. See the full list of meetings on the NAHB Web site, www.nahb.org. Be sure to save Feb. 7-10, 2007 for the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla.

  • Talk to the experts. Bring your specific industry question or concern to the experts. Call 800-368-5242 x0 and be guided to an NAHB expert in legal services, environment issues, business management, legislative affairs and more. Experts are just a phone call away.

  • Look at the big picture. You are now a member of your local association, your state association* and NAHB. Each branch of the federation offers a distinct package of benefits that will enhance your membership experience and your bottom line. Tap into them.

  • Read Nation’s Building News, the official online news publication of NAHB, for the latest housing news, tips and information. There are stories in it every week that will benefit your business. As a member, it is sent to you every week. Subscribe your employees, too, at www.nahb.org/nbn.

*The following states do not have state associations: Missouri, Arizona, Delaware, Hawaii and Rhode Island.
