Newhouse is on the board of three Virginia builders associations — the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association, the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association and the Blue Ridge Home Builders Association. She has served as chair on numerous committees and has been an active participant in many others.

At the state level, she has served as the associate vice president for the Home Builders Association of Virginia for five consecutive years, 1999-2004. As a grassroots action coordinator for her state’s legislative committee, Newhouse was instrumental in the development of their congressional contacts program.

Newhouse is also an NAHB life director, one of only seven from her area.

Previously, Newhouse was inducted into NAHB’s 2002 Society of Honored Associates, received several BUILD-PAC Spike awards, earned several associate of the month honors from her local associations and a President’s Award in 1998 and was named the 1996 Associate of the Year by the Fredericksburg association.

She is a member of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce, Triad Plus, Women in Engineering and Rotary. She is also involved with the American Cancer Society and the Leukemia Foundation.

Ken Krajsa was also presented with the sixth annual Bill Polley Award in recognition of his more than 20-year commitment to the building industry and his work at the local level with the Home Builders Association of Fargo-Moorhead, at the state level with the North Dakota Builders Association of Builders and with NAHB.

At the local level, Krajsa served on the retention committee from 1994-2005. He also served on the flood task force, homeownership task force and the public issues candidates' forums.
