New Grants for College Scholarships, Students at IBS
 The NAHB Past Presidents Council and the National Housing Endowment, the philanthropic arm of NAHB, have approved $105,700 to fund student scholarships and student attendance at the 2006 International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla. Jan 11-14.
The grants were awarded to 49 home builders associations through the NAHB Past Presidents/National Housing Endowment Matching Funds Program established earlier this year. The program is coordinated by the Home Builders Institute, the workforce development arm of NAHB.
After the funds are matched by the grant recipient associations, a total of $211,400 will be distributed for scholarship tuition or for tuition to send students to the builders show through the program.
The new grant program is part of NAHB’s ongoing efforts to support construction education by reaching out to students across the country.
Association recipients include:
- Southeast Alaska Building Industry Association — to support IBS attendance for students at Juneau Douglas High School
- The Building Industry Association of San Diego — to support IBS attendance and scholarships at the University of San Diego
- Home Builders Association of Northern Colorado — to provide IBS assistance at Colorado State University
- Builders Association of North Central Florida — received scholarship support for the University of Florida and Santa Fe Community College
- Northeast Florida Builders Association — to support IBS attendance and scholarships at the University of North Florida
- Home Builders Association of Georgia — to help students at Georgia Institute of Technology attend IBS
- Home Builders Association of Statesboro — to provide assistance to students at Georgia Southern University to attend IBS
- Builders Council of Southeast Idaho ― received scholarship support for Idaho State University
- Lewis Clark Building Contractors Association — to provide scholarships at the University of Idaho and Walla Walla Community College Scholarship
- Bloomington-Normal Area Home Builders Association — to provide IBS attendance support to Illinois State University and the Bloomington Area Vocational Technical School
- Indiana Builders Association — to provide scholarships and IBS attendance support at Ball State University, Indiana State University, Purdue University-Calumet and Purdue University-North Central
- Vincennes Area Builders Association, Ind. — to provide scholarships at Vincennes University
- Capital Region Builders Association of Louisiana — to provide IBS and scholarship support at Louisiana State University
- Builders Association of Central Massachusetts — to provide Fitchburg State College student support to attend IBS
- Central Minnesota Builders Association — to provide scholarships at St. Cloud Technical College
- Vikingland Builders Association, Minn. — to support IBS attendance at Alexandria Technical College
- Home Builders Association of Mississippi — to provide scholarships to students at Hinds Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi
- Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield — to provide students at Missouri State University scholarship support
- Montana Building Industry Association — to support scholarships at Montana State University
- Home Builders Association of Lincoln — to provide IBS and scholarship support at Southeast Community College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- Home Builders Association of the Norfolk Area, Neb. — to provide scholarships at Northeast Community College
- West Central Nebraska Home Builders Association — to support IBS attendance at the University of Nebraska-Kearney
- Home Builders Association of Haywood County, N.C. — to provide scholarships at Haywood Community College
- Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County — to provide scholarship support at North Carolina State University
- Home Builders Association of Fargo-Moorhead — to provide scholarship support at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Minnesota State University-Moorhead, North Dakota State College of Science and North Dakota State University
- Home Builders Association of Wayne and Holmes Counties — to provide IBS attendance support at Ohio State University, Agricultural & Technical Institute
- Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Harrisburg, Pa. — to provide IBS support to Cumberland Perry Area Vacational Technical School
- Pennsylvania Builders Association — to provide IBS attendance and scholarship attendance at Pennsylvania State University
- West Branch Susquehanna Builders Association, Pa. — to support IBS attendance at the Pennsylvania College of Technology
- Brookings Regional Builders Association — to help students at South Dakota State University attend IBS
- Greater San Antonio Builders Association — to provide IBS and scholarship support at St. Phillips College, Texas A&M University and the University of Texas-San Antonio
- Iron County Home Builders Association — to give scholarships at Southern Utah University
- Utah Valley Home Builders Association — to provide assistance for IBS attendance and scholarships at Brigham Young University, Snow College and Utah Valley State College
- Wausau Area Builders Association, Wis. — to support IBS attendance and scholarships at Northcentral Technical College
