EOC Scholarship Program Helps EOs Attend NAHB Events
Home builders association executive officers from across the country have received more than $331,000 in scholarship funds to attend NAHB-sponsored education events and meetings this year as part of the EOC Scholarship Program.
Scholarship Helps 94 Attend EOC Seminar
A record-breaking 288 EOs registered for this year’s EOC Seminar — an event recognized as the leading educational opportunity for building industry association executives. The seminar included more than 60 education sessions, a series of computer labs and two nationally-recognized keynotes speakers.
The EOC Scholarship Program enabled 94 EOs to attend the seminar, including 50 first-time attendees.
“The EOC Seminar was a great opportunity to spend time and share ideas with new and ‘seasoned’ executive officers,” said Celeste Carlton, executive director of the HBA of Hartford County. “They have reinforced my belief that one can learn something new every year. The scholarship program is outstanding, and I hope it will continue to benefit EOs across the country.”
“The scholarships strengthen the federation by allowing our state and local association executives to become more knowledgeable and successful managers, resulting in substantial benefits to our members,” said Sam Anderson, chair of the EOC Scholarship Committee and Executive Officers Council president-elect.
Fall Board Scholarships
Twelve EOs received scholarships to attend the NAHB Fall Board of Directors meeting in Reno, Nev. earlier this month. Eleven of the Eos were first-time attendees.
Scholarships for Future Events
In addition, more than 30 scholarships have been allocated to association executive officers to attend the National Conference on Membership on Nov. 11-13 in Spokane, Wash. and the State & Local Government Affairs Conference on Nov. 17-19 in Phoenix.
Scholarships will also be awarded to eligible EOs who plan to attend the 2006 International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla. Applications are now available online.
