Endowment Announces Evans Scholarship Award Recipients

The National Housing Endowment, the philanthropic arm of NAHB, has announced the recipients of the 2005 Lee S. Evans/National Housing Endowment Scholarship, which is awarded to exemplary students who major in construction-related fields. Twelve students were awarded scholarships this year.

Founded in 1993 by Lee and Virginia Evans, the Lee S. Evans Scholarship has awarded more than $280,000 to nearly 100 students across the country. 

This year’s scholarship recipients are:

  • Shannon Daly Drees, a senior Construction Management major at Brigham Young University, received a scholarship for $4,000.
  • Neil Dolder, a senior Construction Science major at the University of Oklahoma, received $4,000.
  • Andre Hawks, a senior Civil Engineering major at California Polytechnic, received $2,000.
  • Dustin Hoopes, a senior Construction Management major at Southern Utah State University, received $5,000.
  • James Palmer, a junior Civil Engineering major at San Diego State, received $4,000.
  • Erick Penkert, a junior Building Construction major at the University of Florida, received $3,000.
  • Ryan Ramey, a junior in Construction Management at Ferris State University, received $3,000.
  • Jarred Roloff, a senior Construction Management major at North Dakota State, received $4,000.
  • Scott Sanders, a senior Construction Management major at Illinois State University, received $5,000.
  • Cameron Sessions, a junior at Brigham Young in Construction Management, received $5,000.
  • Nicole Singleton, a graduate student in her second year in Construction Mangement at the University of Florida, received $3,000.
  • Collett Uriarte, a junior in Building Construction Management at Brigham Young, received $4,000.


The scholarship determinations were made by the Evans Scholarship Committee. Committee members included Bruno Pasquinelli, CEO of Pasquinelli Construction Co. and committee chairman; Brenda Eid, founder of bj Eid Associates; Robert Jones, president of Robert R. Jones Associates; John Koelemij, owner of Orange State Construction and 1985 NAHB president; Mark Lee Levine, director and professor of the Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management at the University of Denver; Roger Reinhardt, executive vice president of the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Denver; and Chuck Shinn of Shinn Associates.
