Deadline for Housing Quality Award Application Nears
The deadline for the 2006 National Housing Quality Award (NHQA) is fast approaching. Applications must be received by the NAHB Research Center by June 1.
Patterned after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the NHQA represents the highest recognition by the housing industry for quality achievement. The award is open to all U.S. residential construction companies and independent contractors that provide construction services to home builders or remodeling companies.
Entries are judged by panels of experts who evaluate the role that customer-focused quality plays in construction, business management, sales, design and warranty services.
Award winners are featured in Professional Builder magazine and participate in panel discussions at the International Builders’ Show. All applicants benefit from the introspective process of preparing an application and receive a valuable feedback report with suggestions for improvement from the judging panel. Finalists also receive extensive site visits.
Companies are encouraged to apply for the award if they:
- Have a commitment to customer satisfaction
- Believe in quality and the prevention of defects
- Strive for operational excellence
- Use fact-based decision-making
- Value employees
- Partner with their contractors and suppliers
- Have a vision for the future and a plan to get there
